Pubic Hair Removal - Tips When Waxing

Pubic hair removal is now a matter of concern for both men and women. For hygiene reasons alone many individuals choose to remove unwanted body hair in the pubic area, hence, the search for the best pubic hair removal method.

Waxing is one very popular method. It is inexpensive, it can be done from home, and the results last for some weeks in many cases.

Spa

Use these tips to get the best results if you choose to use waxing as your pubic hair removal method of choice:

  • Avoid showering and making the hair wet prior to waxing. Hair absorbs the water making it soft and less likely to adhere well to the wax. Tough hair is easier to pull off.
  • Be sure to test a small area of skin first to make sure there is no acute sensitivity or allergic reaction to pubic hair removal using waxing.
  • Hair should be at least 1/8 inch long. If it isn't wait until it reaches this length.
  • Be sure to wash the skin thoroughly and dry it well beforehand to remove any lotions or oils which may prevent the wax from adhering closely to the skin.
  • Heat the wax carefully so as not to overheat and thus burn the skin when applying. Test on a small area first.
  • The consistency should be soft rather than runny.
  • If pain and discomfort is a main concern use a pain reducing gel or cream available from pharmacists. These solutions should be applied 30 to 60 minutes before waxing so the skin is numbed beforehand.
  • Apply a thin layer of wax in the direction of the hair growth and peel back with a rapid movement close to the skin.
  • Do not pull up or out, rather pull back.
  • Clean the skin with a warm moist towel afterwards to remove excess wax.
  • Avoid wearing tight clothing over freshly waxed areas to minimize the risk of irritation and ingrown hairs. 24-48 hours after pubic hair removal waxing, exfoliate the skin (with a Loofa sponge for example) to prevent the dead skin from accumulating and causing hair to become ingrown.

Best Positions When Performing A Waxing Pubic Hair Removal Session:

  • Option 1: Sit in a chair with your feet up above your waist and legs spread apart.
  • Option 2. Sit with one leg propped above your waist and the other leg resting on the floor.
  • Option 3. Lie on your back with legs wide apart and raised in the air so that all the waxable areas are spread taut.
  • Option 4. Lie on your side with the bottom leg straight out and the top leg bent at the knee and tucked behind the straight leg.
  • Option 5. Bend the knees and keep the legs wide apart so the genital areas are easy to work on. Put a mirror on the ground if necessary for better control.

How to Fill a Hot Tub - Spa Filling Guide

So, you have your hot tub installed, setup and all ready to use. Are you ready to fill it up? Here's how to fill it up the right way:

Step 1) Make sure your electricity is switched off. Now, lets talk about water. Do you know what type of water you have running through your pipes? Is it soft or hard? Its important to know that hard water can cause stains, scales and deposits of calcium. Soft water on the other hand isn't your best friend either because it can be more corrosive. Avoid softened tap water for sure. As far as cold or hot goes, we recommend starting out with warm water.

Spa

Step 2) Take out the filter that was factory installed. Put the end of your garden hose a couple of inches inside the pipe or the place where the filter was.

Step 3) Switch on the water through the hose at full pressure. The spa should start filling up at this point.

Step 4) Verify the level of water and the depth to which you will be filling water (also called fill depth). The right fill depth is a couple of inches (2-3 at most) above the filter (the top). If you get the fill depth wrong, water might not be circulated properly within your spa

Step 5) Once the spa is filled up and you have replaced the filter cartridge, its time to switch on the power (ideally with the help of an electrician or someone who knows what they're doing).

Step 6) Switch the jet buttons on and off repeatedly. This is to make sure that the water is flowing properly and the jets are functioning as they should. Confirm that the flow of water from all the jets is the same. If not, call your spa company's service center phone number and email their support team.

Step 7) Once the spa is filled up, add about 2 ounces of an anti-scaling and anti-staining product for every 250 gallons of water. This is something that you should do every time you drain and refill the spa. These anti-scaling and anti-staining products will get rid of the harmful metals and minerals that will affect the spa surface. In about fifteen minutes, also add a teaspoon of chlorine and either bromine tablets. Check your equipment guide or call the service number to confirm the quantity of anything you add to the water.

Step 8) This is the fun step where you set your temperature. We think a temperature between 100 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit is ideal.

Natural Cure For Interstitial Cystitis

Is there a natural cure for interstitial cystitis? Although there's no known medical cure, there is positive evidence of a natural cure for this painful disease of the pelvic area.

Interstitial cystitis (IC) causes recurring discomfort in the bladder and surrounding pelvic region. It's like having a chronic bladder infection - everyday, all the time.

Natural

Interstitial Cystitis Symptoms

Of the 1.4 million Americans with IC the vast majority, over a million, are women. And because the symptoms vary so much from one person to the next, interstitial cystitis symptoms are often misdiagnosed. These various symptoms can include:

o Mild or intense pain, pressure or tenderness in the bladder and pelvic area

o Discomfort that increases or decreases as the bladder fills or empties

o Worsening symptoms for women during menstruation

o An urgent or frequent need to urinate or both

o Painful vaginal intercourse for women

Since symptoms can vary so much, many researchers believe IC could actually be several different diseases instead of just one. They've therefore started using the term painful bladder syndrome (PBS) to describe cases with painful urinary symptoms.

Some symptoms of IC/PBS resemble those of bacterial infections. But medical tests show that there are no active bacterial organisms in the urine of people with the disease.

This is why antibiotics don't work to alleviate interstitial cystitis symptoms.

Many people suffering from symptoms of IC/PBS find themselves making the rounds from one specialist to another, often being treated for a recurrent bladder infections.

What is Interstitial Cystitis?

Good question. But all that's really known is that IC is a chronic inflammation of the lining and walls of the bladder and that there is yet no known cause or medical cure.

Some scientists suspect IC is a result of environmental allergies, food sensitivities, an autoimmune response or they associate it with other chronic illnesses like fibromyalgia.

And because many women with interstitial cystitis have other conditions, such as yeast infections, irritable bowel syndrome or fibromyalgia, some scientists believe IC/PBS may be a condition causing inflammation in various organs and different parts of the body.

But even though scientists don't know the exact cause, since the uncomfortable symptoms are the result of inflammation, interstitial cystitis more than likely has a lot to do with our unhealthy modern diet of highly processed, nutritionally devoid foods.

And, even though there's no known medical cure, good nutrition can certainly help to alleviate the condition and assist the immune system to begin the healing process.

Natural Cure for Interstitial Cystitis

It's best to follow a very nutritious diet, including more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean poultry, low fat dairy, clean water and plenty of cold water omega 3 fish.

Avoid red meat, which causes inflammation, processed foods, acidic foods, such as caffeine, and any food you may be allergic to, such as wheat, nuts or chocolate.

To build your immune system, supplement your diet with natural whole food nutritional supplements. Especially add anti-inflammatory omega 3 fish oil with EPA and DHA.

The EPA and DHA in fish oil has been shown in numerous studies to act as a highly effective anti-inflammatory, which can dramatically decrease the painful swelling in the bladder and pelvic area and work as a natural cure for interstitial cystitis symptoms.

The Origin Of Spa - A Brief History

A spa, as known to us today, is a centre for treatments through various alternate medications, and has grown to include relaxation, unwinding and getting pampered. But what makes for an interesting read is the origin of this culture, and the genesis of the word spa. So, when did the concept of spa - relaxing and getting treated for ailments through water - come into being? Where from did it get its present name? There are myriad answers to these questions, but all intertwined in the same theory.

Genesis of the spa

Spa

Popular belief has it that the origin of spa dates back to the Roman era, when soldiers of their legions fatigued by wars, would take to rejuvenation, relaxation and treatment of sore wounds through water. Hot, natural spring water was considered to be the best cure for wounds and tired muscles. The legionnaires, hence, started building baths around naturally found hot water springs or hot water wells. These baths were popularly known as 'aquae', while the treatments undertaken at these aquae were called 'Sanus Per Aquam' - of which SPA is considered to be an acronym - meaning health by or through water. Others believe that spa is an ellipsis of the Latin phrase 'Sanitas Per Aquas', meaning the same. The Belgian town Spa, which rose to fame in the 14th century in this context, thus got its name, since a thermal spring having curative and thermal properties was discovered there.

Another accepted credence is that the word spa is derived from the Walloon (the dialect of the people of Wallonia in south Belgium) word espa, meaning fountain. Alternatively, the origin of the word can also be attributed to the Latin word 'spagere', which means to scatter, sprinkle or moisten.

History of the spa

Social bathing was religiously adhered to as a culture in the ancient Mesopotamian, Egyptian, Minoan, Greek, and Roman civilizations. Among the first to use a variety of baths, the Greeks pioneered the concept of laconica (hot water tubs and hot air baths). The Romans adopted and modified it progressively into balneum and then thermae (Greek for heat). This spearheaded the culture of social bathing which gained immense popularity in the following years. Even though the first thermae can be traced back to 25 BC, the balneum existed in the Roman society almost 200 years before the advent of thermae. Each succeeding emperor to the Roman throne outdid his forerunner in building more spacious and luxurious baths. Some baths were large enough to hold about 6000 bathers at a time.

Growth of the spa culture

Subsequent years saw the thermae grow into wholesome entertainment complexes where bathers could indulge in sports, leisure, and restaurants apart from the varied baths available. A characteristic bath comprised of visits to different chambers for a complete relaxation routine. The bathing ritual started with exercises at palestra, followed by an hour long session in three increasingly warmer rooms beginning with tepidarium, where the bather's body would be smeared with oils and other herbal extracts. Private bathing rooms called caldariums that offered a choice of hot or cold water would be the next in line. The bather then moved on to laconicum, the hottest chamber of the thermae, where a vigorous massage and dead skin scraping would be carried out with the help of an object called strigil. The bath would end with a dip in a pool of cool water known as the frigidarium. After this ritual, the bather could relax in the other parts of the thermae indulging in a sumptuous meal, or retiring to the library. Since baths were located in close proximity to natural hot or mineral springs, the Renaissance witnessed towns abundant in natural springs graduating into spa destinations. Some examples are that of Spa, Belgium; Paeffers, Switzerland; Baden-Baden Germany; and Bath, Engalnd. Often these natural waters were considered to have medicinal properties and curative value.

The downfall and rediscovery of the spa

The fall of the Roman Empire resulted in a decrease in the popularity of the thrmae concept the world over. All existing spas fell prey to the cyclic order of being discovered, forgotten, and then being rediscovered. But although spas and hot water treatments went in and out of vogue since man first stumbled over the concept, water as a healing liquid never lost sheen. With innovations in the medical science, allopathy took over almost every other branch of medicine and well being in the early 20th century. Dispensaries and public hospitals started to be viewed as an alternative to natural healing processes. This threw the existing spas out of gear as they got transformed into vacationing hubs, losing their original purpose and catering only to the rich. Other spas responded by concentrating on the beauty business offering an amalgam of fitness and beauty in glorified saloons called day spas.

But, thanks to the indulgent and health conscious populace that looks at relaxation more as a way of life rather than a leisure activity, the spa culture has sprung back to life in most parts of the world. Modern spas, though having undergone a paradigm shift in their ways of treatment, still retain water therapy as their nucleus, and follow a routine of cleaning, heating, treatment and rest, akin to their older counterparts.

The spa of today

Call it thermal waters or spa, the concept of healing through water is also known by copious other terms such as taking the waters, spa therapy, balenotherapy, or hydrotherapy. The meaning of spa has constantly evolved through the ages to accommodate several other types of treatments. Now, spa treatments can range from wet and dry treatments to wellness therapies and beauty treatments. Treatments at spa include thalassotherapy, meditation, Yoga, Ayurveda flotation therapy, watsu, wassertanzen, water dance, liquid sound, Swedish massage, Japanese Shiatsu, Thai massage, European facials, acupuncture, Dead Sea salt scrubs, Moor mud wraps, aromatherapy, reflexology, microdermabrasion, endermologie, reiki, aura imaging, rasul, hypnotherapy, Tai Chi, dream therapy and much more. Mechanical devices such as Jacuzzi whirlpools, hydrotherapy tubs, Swiss showers, scotch hoses, and vichy showers have been developed to assist these therapies efficiently, and have collectively made the spa experience a better one. Today's spa has successfully stuck to its core traditions, simultaneously innovating, interpreting and expressing them in its own way.

How to Winterize Your Hot Tub - Winterizing a Spa

Living in a city that has four seasons is great, but when winter comes along with freezing temperatures, certain precautions must be taken to winterize outdoor ponds, water supplies, pools and hot tubs. How to winterize a hot tub spa if you decide to drain it over some of the winter requires a local spa professional or attention to the details of getting all of the water out of the spa.

In the winter months, calling a service pro is essential if the spa fails during freezing weather. The biggest possible damage can occur with a spa that is left full of water (or even partially full) outside without heating so components and plumbing freeze. It is best to become familiar with how to winterize a spa. Then if you need to completely drain the spa with a submersible pump in the winter, it can be done to save the spa plumbing while you source the part you need. Many times you will need to drain the spa anyway to have the repair completed. After the spa is drained, the jets need to be cleared out with a wet vac, or you can add a little RV antifreeze in the line.

Spa

Critical points to consider when avoiding a freezing spa are:

  • Is all of the water out of the spa?
  • Is the rest of the water blown out by either turning on the blower or using a wet vac (or both)?
  • Did you open any drain plugs on the pumps and loosen the lowest union or heater union to allow for rest water to drain out?

Now before you winterize your spa, consider that many families enjoy the use of a spa outdoors in the winter time. Remember that ski trip with the bubbling hot water outdoors and the surrounding snow-capped mountains? Sure you won't necessarily want to sit outdoors in a thirty below blizzard, but when the storm passes it is a beautiful and serene feeling to sit out in bubbling hot water with the cool air around.

Another reason to not shut the spa down in the winter for the reason of saving money on electricity is that if you improperly drain the spa for the winter and remaining water begins to expand and crack piping, you could have a much more expensive repair bill on your hands than the cost of the electricity you were saving.

So if you still decide to shut your hot tub down over the winter months, here are a few tips. First, contact a local professional to do it for you and be assured it is completely drained. For the "do-it-yourselfer", always turn the power off first when working on the spa. Turn off both the disconnect near the spa and also the circuit breaker inside the house.

Next, drain the spa as much as you can with a submersible pump or other hose. Take out the filter, clean it, soak it in filter cleaner and put it away for the winter. If the spa has an air system with a blower, those lines also need to be cleaned out. The easiest way to do that is to disconnect power to the heater, then restore power to the spa and turn the blower on so it can blast the rest of the water out. (For this you may want to put the cover back on so you don't get sprayed). Note that you should not run jet pumps for any length of time without water in them. To be on the safe side, you can disconnect the main pump from the power pack in case it comes on while you are running the blower.

Some pumps have winterizing plugs on them that you can remove to drain the rest of the water from the pump. You can also open the fittings in the plumbing systems, especially the lowest fitting which is usually the heater fitting that attaches to the spa pack. Take one end off and leave it open over the winter so any condensation can drain out.

Once you have prepared everything, complete the work with a wet-vac and blow out any remaining water in the lines. Force air into each of the opened jets from the wet-vac and blow out each jet until no more water comes out. Clean the footwell of the spa with the wet-vac and wipe up any remaining water.

To be really certain, you can put a bit of RV-antifreeze into the system which will need to be cleaned out come spring time. When you are satisfied that all of the water is out, put the cover on and lock it down. Close cabinet panels and check that the cover is on securely.

One more thing you can do is get one of those blue plastic tarps or other tarp from your local hardware store and put it over the spa cover, then securing the tarp. This can protect against water that can get in through the sides of the cover in the form of condensation.

New pumps can be expensive if you have to replace one because of freeze damage. One place to get  spa parts in Canada, online is from a large online Canadian parts supply house.

Even if you leave your spa running over the winter months, being familiar with draining and winterizing procedures is important. Even if you do not winterize your hot tub yourself, understanding how to drain and winterize the spa can save you hefty repair bills if there should be an extended power outage in the winter. Spas should be monitored regularly in the winter for proper operation to avoid damage caused by water freezing. If you are away for extended periods in the winter, the spa can either be drained, or a vigilant neighbor can check on it and call a local spa professional in the case of an extended power outage.

Check with your spa manufacturer or dealer for more tips on winterizing a spa. Knowing these procedures can save you costly repairs down the road.

Don't try to be everything to everyone. Focus on your specific niche. Know what makes you different from your competitors. Analyse your competitor's strengths and weaknesses. Offer more value by differentiating your specific treatments and results. One of the biggest niche strategy advantages is the ability to quickly become a dominant player your specific area of expertise. There are salons that cater specifically for rejuvenation, slimming, tanning, hair design, waxing and massage. Niche marketing can be a focused strategy at a niche group such as pregnant women, teenagers, couples, men. A massage and relaxation niche may encompass Yoga, Shiatsu, Meditation and an array of Massage techniques such as deep tissue, Swedish, aromatherapy and Thai massage. Spas are increasingly offering unique services and products to differentiate themselves from the usual facials and body treatments. A new spa niche may be carved out with Asian healing practices and rituals.

9. Win them over and Build relationships

Treat each client like they are special. Listen sincerely to their concerns. Communicate with your clients, what are their interests, likes, dislikes. Educate your clients on the many benefits of your service and products. Have promotional tools such as educational Pamphlet/Flyer/Email/Booklet/Blog/eBook which includes interesting and useful information. Make sure your clients are pampered, comfortable and give them your full attention. Recognise that you serve clients, that client relationship is part of your job. Be helpful, friendly and courteous at all times.

10. Bold & Beautiful Business.

Who gets the attention? Attractive men and women, the loud mouth and the exceptional offer. Start attracting attention to your salon and spa. Have attractive staff with flawless skin, well groomed with full make-up. You think I'm joking, but its fact that good looking people attract more business. And as a salon and spa, you are in the health and beauty business, so your people need to look the part. Would you go to an overweight personal fitness trainer, or would you want the lean muscular trainer? Who gets the attention? The budget salon with posters on the wall or the salon with a gorgeous reception, water feature, glossy magazines, top notch furnishing and finishes. We know that packaging is everything; clients pay big money for professional skin care because the marketing messages tell us its special and the packaging supports the message. Is your salon and spa supporting your marketing message? Attractive people, places and objects are attractive because they literally attract attention and interest. Is your salon and spa attractive and attracting attention? Attractive refers to everything: your marketing messages, the way you answer the phone, answer questions, the way you present yourself, your advertising. It all needs to be bold, beautiful, attractive, and appealing to draw people in.

Acne Hormones - Natural Acne Hormone Balancing Treatments for Clear Skin

Can you treat a headache or stomach ache externally, without somehow manipulating your natural bodily functions internally (aka popping a pill)? NO! Then why would you try to treat acne that way? Many acne treatment systems today such as Proactiv, target acne only from the outside, and do not address the issue interanally, as it should be for lasting and dramatic results.

If you are really serious about treating acne and really eliminating it at it's source (ie the hormones that cause acne), then you owe it to yourself to try a natural acne hormone treatment which is specifically designed to equalize hormone imbalance and purify the skin from the inside out using special blends of herbs, botanicals, and/or natural compounds such as Vitamin E and Alpha Lipoic Acid.

Natural

Why Go Natural?

Because many people who have not been responsive to conventional acne treatments, or their effectiveness has worn off due to long term use, experience superior results with natural acne treatments.

Acne can actually be caused by two different hormones in women. It's usually an overabundance of androgens (male hormones) or estrogens (female hormones). In men, it can also be caused by imbalances in male and female hormones. This hormonal imbalance triggers the breakouts by over-stimulating the oil glands on acne prone areas of the body, which then results in a clogging of the pore, hence that thing we all know and love - the pimple.

Antioxidants are also very potent as hormonal equalizers, as well as "blood purifiers", and their properties foster an environment for mending skin eruptions as well as preventing new breakouts and promoting a healthy glow and skin tone.

Most natural acne treatments are designed to do two things:

1.) Help correct hormonal imbalances related to acne breakouts.

2.) Reduce inflammation and swelling, and pave the way for fast skin repair where breakouts have recently occurred.

Some other tips you can follow to help prevent unsightly breakouts are:

1.) Drink plenty of water. This helps to cleanse the system, and results in clearer, more hydrated skin.

2.) Avoid caffeine and caffeine-containing products like chocolate or supplements containing caffeine or other stimulants.

3.) Relax. Try a calming exercise for when you get stressed out. Stress triggers breakouts for many individuals.

4.) Avoid harsh cleansers or toners - these can only aggravate acne and cause further irritation and redness.

5.) Use a light, non-comedogenic (non pore-clogging) sunscreen. While it is true a suntan may camouflage breakouts, it mostly aggravates them by forcing further oil production due to its drying effects. Try using a good facial self tanner instead.

If you follow these few simple skincare principles, and combine them with a high quality acne treatment targeted to balance hormones and internally "cleanse", you really can't lose. Your complexion will thank you!

How to Start a Spa Business

Variations in the spa business make it an interesting possible venture for a person looking to go into business for themselves. A spa can be a day spa, a resort type spa, a hot tub distributor and a spa attached to a hotel. The spa can include hair care, massage, nail care and body care. Your interest and the money you have available will be factors in choosing which business you should pursue. The Internet is an excellent source for finding what kind of businesses are for sale and where they are located. A potential buyer can also check out this same question with solid business brokers. By doing this, the buyer can quickly get a feel for what is available and the capital needed to complete the sale.

The other way to get into the business is to start a brand new business. This will cost somewhere near what you would pay for a similar type of spa business, except for the value of their existing clientele. The advantage to the existing business purchase versus the brand new start-up is the existing customer base and the immediate cash flow. There are many types of spa businesses and the cost of the one you would like to own will depend on the type you choose. A resort type spa for example will probably cost far more than a day spa or a distributor of spas. The services that you offer will also show up in the cost of the spa. Service usually means the need for employees to provide the service. Employees have an on going monthly cost that does not go away whether you are busy or not. Other services may be equipment dependent and therefore you have the equipment cost and the maintenance expense.

Spa

A distributorship will have its own unique costs and expenses. A show room is almost mandatory to run the business correctly. You cannot sell spas without demonstrating them. This will entail a building set up to do just this and a different set of employees to pull off this type of business. Salesmen and people persons are going to be important factors in all of these businesses. Solid sales people are a necessity in selling spas to the public. This is a luxury item, not a necessity of life.

Which spa business is for you and how to find them

As stated above the Internet is a great way to start looking for businesses that are up for sale. This will give you a good idea of the difficulty in finding one that is in the area of the spa business that catches your fancy. These listings will also let you know if there are businesses in your local. Talk with spa owners and business brokers to get an idea of the opportunities that are available in the spa business. Visit day spas and resort spas to see how they are run and the services they offer to their clients. Ask them if they know of any businesses for sale. You never know where you will get a solid lead. The business broker will have answers for some of your questions and will know where to find the answers he does not know off of the top of his head. An experienced broker may have already helped with the sale of the type of spa business that you are favoring. This part of the discovery process is like being a good detective. Let the facts and the leads get you where you can see the answers to your growing question list. Spending the needed time on this part of business buying will help in many ways. You will become better versed on what is available and the prices that different businesses command. You will also soon discover whether you can buy an existing business or have to start one from the ground up. This will help to determine the money needed and how you can come up with the purchase price or start-up price.

I have the money or I can get it

You have to be able to say the above in order to buy an existing business or start one up. The cost in this niche business will depend on the selected area of the spa business. Once you have selected the spa business you wish to own, then you must find one for sale or start one up. Both of these will have prices that you can afford or can get financing for. Raising the total price may take some creative financing on your part. The current owner may be willing to accept terms to enable the purchase. Other areas that may loan you the money you need are the bank, relatives, loan from a business lender and a loan on assets you own.

One way or another you will need to come up with the total price. If the current owner is involved, be prepared to pay a premium for the business. Most owners have a cash price and a higher terms price. The problem with this is can you afford the business and still have enough capital to run the business. If the answer is yes, then all is okay. If this is not the case, maybe the potential buyer may need to pass for the time being. Knowing when to pass by an opportunity may be just as important as making the decision to buy.

Maybe in this business, you can select a less costly avenue to get into the spa business. You have several ways to go and if one road is closed then there may be another way to go. The point of this is do not strap yourself financially to buy a business and make success more difficult or impossible to obtain. A buyer must make realistic judgments. Viewing these decisions through rose-colored glasses can be a serious error.

Conclusions

The multi-faceted spa world offers several types of businesses to consider owning and running. Some take a large capital commitment and some are far more reasonable in their money requirement. The choice is yours based on your interest and the money you can bring to the table.

An area not previously mentioned is the franchise spa company. This area should be looked at as a possibility. There are some advantages to being connected to a spa company with a nationwide reputation and advertising campaign.

Financing in this business category is not much different than what is needed in other business purchases or start-up cost. Some versions are capital intensive and some do not take anywhere the same money commitment. Finding the right business for you in the correct segment of the industry will take study and comparing the chances of a successful ownership.

The suggestion is to talk with business brokers to see what they have for sale and the money needed to make the purchase. They are a great source of good information and current trends or developments. The experience they have and the sources they can call upon will be of help in getting answers to your questions. Knowing answers will help you make far better decisions and thoughtful changes in your plans.

History and Origin of Day Spa - Where it Came From and Why?

The term spa comes from a town in Belgium called Spa. During medieval times, iron deficiencies were cured by drinking iron bearing or chalybeate spring water. The mineral springs in Spa, Belgium was famous for the origin of the term "spa". From then on, the word spa was regarded as any place that has a mineral or medicinal spring.

"Spa" is also from the word that means "soda fountain" in Eastern New England. Maybe because it was an insinuation to the "mineral" or carbonated water that is the main ingredient of numerous soda fountain drinks.

Spa

It is also thought to mean "fountain" in the Walloon language, or "to sprinkle, moisten, or scatter" in the Latin language. It has also been said that the term spa is from the acronym "Sanitas Per Aquam" or "Salus Per Aquam" that means health through water.

From then on, spas were known as resorts or institutions that had therapeutic baths. It is now regarded as a resort that has many mineral springs, a health institution, a fashionable resort or hotel, and/or a relaxation or invigoration tub that usually includes a device that raises or makes whirlpools in the water.

Catherine Atzen coined the term "day spa" in the year 1980. It was done upon her arrival in France from the United States. However, some say that Burke Williams of San Francisco, claimed to have coined the term. In 2007, it was said that a Day Spa Consortium was made in order to designate the person who really deserved to rule this contentious item.

History and Origin of Day Spa - Where it Came From and Why?

Day spas are business establishments where people tend to visit for professionally administered personal care treatments such as facials, massages, and other skin care regimens. It is quite similar to beauty salons. However, the only difference is that people only visit the institution for the duration of the treatment, usually lasting only a few hours to a day. Natural Cough Remedies For Babies

When your baby comes down with a cough, you want to do whatever you can to make her more comfortable. Yet at the same time, you don't want to grab over the counter medication, since there are usually side effects and chemicals that you'd rather not expose babies to if it can be avoided. What's more, recent studies have shown that cough syrups are worthless and the sugar they contain may even prolong illness.

Thankfully there are quite a few natural remedies that you can try to calm your baby's cough. If your baby seems congested, take her in the bathroom and run a hot shower. The steam from the shower will help loosen that congestion in her lungs.

Natural

Putting your baby in a warm (not hot) bath can have the same effect. Make the bath even more effective by adding a few drops of eucalyptus, sage or thyme oil into the bath water. The vapors from these essential oils will help open baby's airways, allowing her to breath easier. The vapors from these oils will also sooth a sore throat.

If your baby's cough is caused by croup, sometimes the best course of action is to wrap her up warmly and take her out in the night air. The cold air sometimes calms the inflammation in the upper airways.

You can also use sage and thyme to make tea out of them. The warm herbal tea will help clear mucus out of your baby's lungs. Please check with your pediatrician to find out at what age you can start giving your baby these herbal teas.

Licorice tea is another great natural cough treatment. Licorice has antibacterial properties that will help you baby fight the bacteria that are causing the cough. It also soothes the throat and calms the respiratory tract; helping her get some much needed sleep. Make a cup of licorice tea and give it to your baby as warm as possible, of course without burning her.

Another very effective and gentle natural cough remedy for babies is an herbal rub. Start with 3 to 4 tablespoons of olive oil and add 2 drops of essential oils to the olive oil. Good oils to use are eucalyptus, sage, rosemary and peppermint oil. A mixture of eucalyptus and rosemary works really well at night, since the eucalyptus will calm your baby's cough and allow her to breath easier, while the rosemary helps calm her down and drift off to sleep.

Mix the olive oil and essential oils well, then apply the mixture to your baby's chest and back. If the baby is small, swaddle her in a soft blanket, otherwise keep her back and chest as covered as possible with a thicker, tight fitting shirt to build up body heat which will allow the essential oils to vaporize. As baby breathes in the fumes, breathing will get easier.

A humidifier is another great option when it comes to making your coughing baby more comfortable. Use a few of the same essential oils suggested above and run the humidifier in baby's bedroom.

Some Moms have found that breastmilk will help soothe and heal a cough better than any other drink. If you're nursing and baby develops a cough, don't stop breastfeeding. Increase baby's feedings. Breastmilk is not a dairy product and is the safest food for baby when he's sick.

This article is provided for information purposes only. Please consult your baby's health care provider before trying home remedies.

Sewing Technique - How To Sew A Spa Wrap Or Beach Cover-Up

Discover how to sew a spa wrap or beach cover-up with this simple sewing lesson.

Spa wraps are great gift ideas or bazaar items, too.

Spa

Sew spa wraps for all the men, women and children in your family. Everyone needs one. Use for after the shower, bath, or when you do your hair or at the spa or pool or the beach.

Spa wraps have elasticized tops that can be worn above the bust or at the waist.

Sewing a spa wrap is a quick and easy sewing project. All you need is a beach towel, approximately 1-1/4 yards of 1 inch to 1-1/4 inch wide sport sew through elastic and about 6 inches of hook and loop tape or large snaps.

Here is the how to sew instructions.

First of all, make a decision about what you want to use to sew the spa wrap. Colorful beach towels are great to use as well as fabric. Your choice may be based on what size you need the spa wrap to be.

Smaller towels work well for small children.

Lighter weight towels work better than heavier ones. They aren't as bulky to sew or wear and also dry faster.

Sewing Tip: Always preshrink all fabrics including towels before you sew.

The average beach towel is about 62 inches long x 34 inches wide. Find some good bargains at your local flea market.

The length of the beach towel will generally go around most bodies with some over lap. If you need more, sew 2 towels together or add half a towel.

Cut a piece of 1 inch to 1-1/4 inch wide sturdy sport sew through elastic to be about 2/3 of the length of the towel or fabric that you are using. This depends on the stretch of the elastic.

Example: For a 62 inch long towel, cut the elastic about42 inches long.

Divide the towel and the elastic into eighths. First fold in half, then again in fourths, then again in eighths. These smaller sections are easier to handle at the sewing machine.

Pin the elastic at the eighth marks to one long edge on the wrong side of the towel.

Set your sewing machine for your largest and longest zigzag stitch.

As you stitch, stretch the elastic to fit each pinned section of the towel.

First stitch along the outer edge of the elastic and then go back and stitch along the inner edge of the elastic also stretching as you sew.

If you prefer, you can sew a lightweight fabric casing to the wrong side of the towel and insert the elastic drawing it up to fit the size you want.

Cut two strips of hook and loop tape about 3" long.

Pin the rough (hook) side of one strip to the inside edge of the overlap on top of the elastic.

Stitch around the hook tape to hold securely.

Pin the soft (loop) side of one strip to the outside edge on the right side of the underlap.

Stitch around that tape.

Now place the corresponding pieces of hook and loop tape up against the stitched in place pieces of tape.

Put the wrap on your body to help determine where to sew the corresponding pieces of tape.

Pin those pieces where they should go and unhook them from the stitched tapes. Remove the wrap.

Stitch around these tapes where you have them pinned.

WOW! You just made a spa wrap!

Now, for some designer touches, try these ideas:

Add a large pocket cut from contrasting or matching fabric or even mesh fabric on the front.

Monogram or use one of your embroidery designs on the pocket before applying it to the wrap.

You could bind the outer edges of towel with fabric to match the pocket.

If you decide to bind the outer edges of the towel, round the square corners first. It looks better and is easier to bind. See the following sewing tip to make a nice curve.

Sewing Tip: Lay a dinner plate down at the corners of the towel lining up the edges of the plate with the edges of the towel. Draw the outer curve of the plate to get a very nice even curve.

If you are using a plain towel, add a fun embroidery design using instructions to embroider on terry cloth to decorate your wrap.

Applique a unique design on the spa wrap.

If you prefer not to use hook and loop tape, use very large snaps or heavy duty gripper snaps to hold the wrap closed.

You are the designer! Have fun with it!

It just makes sense!

Natural Home Remedies for Strep Throat

There are many ways of helping the body in dealing with infections. Home remedies for strep throat are various and they include many aspects: diet, natural antiseptics, natural analgesics or natural antibacterial cures. Used appropriately, home remedies for strep throat can speed up the process of healing by fighting bacteria and by stimulating the immune system of the body.

Strep throat can occur to anyone, at any time. Although children and teenagers are the ones who often get strep throat, adults may also be affected by this illness. Strep throat occurs due to infection with group A streptococcus bacteria. This type of bacteria is very contagious and can be easily transmitted through secretions (sneezing, coughing) or physical contact (handshake, touch). Even perfect hygiene can't prevent strep throat from occurring, as the bacteria that cause the infection are also airborne. In some cases, you can contract the bacteria responsible for strep throat just by standing next to a contaminated person.

Natural

The most common symptoms for strep throat are inflammation and swelling of the throat, inflammation and swelling of the tonsils, swelling and tenderness of the lymph glands, difficulty in swallowing, fever, headache, nausea, fatigue, vomiting and diarrhea.

There are home remedies for strep throat that can ease each of these symptoms. However, it is very important to understand that home remedies for strep throat can't completely replace medical treatments prescribed by a physician. Strep throat is an infection caused by bacteria and therefore needs appropriate treatment that consists of antibiotics. Although there are natural alternatives for medical antibiotics, they are considerably less effective in fighting bacteria on their own. Home remedies for strep throat that can act as antibiotics are garlic, honey, olive leaf extract and tea tree oil. Such home remedies for strep throat can help in fighting infection and inflammation, but medical treatment shouldn't be ignored. In fact, most home remedies for strep throat should be used only in addition to medical treatment with antibiotics.

Home remedies for strep throat pain, discomfort and soreness are chamomile, sage, peppermint, lavender, jasmine, rosemary and thyme. These can either be used as essences or ointments and are very efficient in reducing the pain and for relaxing the body. Peppermint and chamomile teas can relief abdominal pain, reduce nausea and can also correct internal disorders such as diarrhea.

A quick, effective, home remedy for strep throat is salty water gargle. By washing the oral cavity with salty water a few times a day you can help the body in overcoming the bacteria responsible for the infection.

When suffering from strep throat, make sure you get enough sleep. Sleep is vital for body regeneration and for maintaining a strong immune system. However, due to the discomfort and pain caused by the infection with bacteria, you might have difficulties in falling asleep. Home remedies for strep throat that have both sedative and analgesic effects are ginseng and passion flower.

Home remedies for strep throat are a very good means of speeding up the process of recovery. By following an appropriate medical treatment and a few good home remedies for strep throat, you will quickly overcome the infection and revitalize your body.
